When it comes to the concretes used within the scope of this project, design, production methods, quality control, pressure resistance, and durability were of the utmost importance. In this project, CEM III A 42.5 N (blast furnace slag cement) was used in concrete production to protect against the effects of chloride and sulfate due to the adverse impact of sea water. It was essential that the concretes, produced during the summer months under the extreme heat of the Mediterranean climate, be transferred by transit-mixers on land and by RORO ships at sea, and pumped with mobile concrete pumps. As the time to transfer and pour the concretes used within the scope of this project was considerable, super plasticizing agents and retarders were used. In order to prevent the concrete from being affected by adverse weather conditions during transportation, strict measures were taken and concretes were delivered to an offshore construction pouring site in fluid form.
