AR-GE

It is aimed to reduce the carbon footprint by taking into account the economic, environmental and social impacts created by R&D studies carried out in line with efficiency, creativity and sustainability policies, and to produce environmentally friendly products by developing sustainable production technologies.

The main mission of our R&D activities; To increase scientific literacy with scientific, innovative and technological awareness, to share the knowledge and technological innovations produced and to create added value for the sector and the country by applying this knowledge to the production processes.

On a project basis, technical and academic equipment is increased by cooperating with organizations such as TÜBİTAK, ÜSAM, TÇMB and universities' civil, chemical, material and geological engineering departments, customers and suppliers.

The efficient use of natural resources in the cement sector, which uses energy and raw materials intensively, is very important in terms of sustainable resource use. For this purpose, R&D studies are carried out to replace non-renewable primary fuels and natural raw materials with alternatives.

The patent for the "Waste Incineration System Integrated into the Rotary Kiln", established by Bolu Cement in 2007 for the disposal of hazardous industrial waste, is a first in the Turkish cement industry.

Aiming to meet customer expectations at the highest level, as well as adding value to nature and people with its activities, OYAK Cement is a pioneer in its sector with its R&D studies on industrial symbiosis. As a result, many process by-products and wastes are used as alternative raw materials in cement production, while reducing the use of primary resources and eliminating the negative environmental effects of related wastes. With the same point of view, performance cements named POWERCEM, CEMENTUM, STARCEM and POWERCIM have been developed as an alternative to CEM I 42.5 R type cement, which is preferred by ready mixed concrete users due to its high early strength. In addition to the strength and workability properties of performance cements, their carbon footprint is 10-25% less than CEM I type cements, as they are produced using less natural resources and fossil fuels.

The special type cement of the Marmaray tube passage, which is described as the project of the century, was produced by Bolu Cement as a result of long studies and the C 40 concrete with a service life of 100 years, called A-PC, was used by OYAK Concrete in the tube passage under the sea. The cement used is at a low alkaline level and has the properties to provide durability under the sea, and was developed in line with the needs of this project.

OYAK Concrete attaches importance to R&D studies and concrete types are developed for different usage purposes. DURABET® Series products with high performance and maintenance-free for at least 100 years can be given as examples of SKYBET developed products that can be produced in C 50 - C100 pressure resistance classes, which can be easily transferred to very long distances vertically and horizontally in multi-storey office and residential buildings.

With the work of Adana Cement R&D team, a method has been developed that enables the production of photocatalytic cements, which have started to be used in Europe, with a 40% cost advantage. Photocatalytic cements, which become active under sunlight or ultraviolet light and clean themselves and the air, both clean the dirt accumulated on the building surface and render the NOx components harmless due to vehicle traffic.

Bolu Cement, as a result of its R&D activities, is G-Class HSR Type Oil Well Cement, which shows excellent workability and mechanical properties used in the edge fillings of oil drilling wells and provides resistance to drilling procedures even under high temperature and pressure, without setting, in drilling wells up to 6,000 m depth. production was carried out.

Human Resources

OYAK Cement’s human resources management mentality consists of the adoption of approaches and applications that support strategical targets and performance, while responding to the special needs of the different industries with which it conducts its activities in an appropriate and efficient manner.
